Size?Controlled Formation of Polymer Janus Discs

A straightforward method is presented for the preparation of nano- to micrometer-sized Janus discs with controlled shape, size, and aspect ratio. The relies on cross-linkable ABC triblock terpolymers involves first prolate ellipsoidal microparticles by combining Shirasu porous glass (SPG) membrane emulsification evaporation-induced confinement assembly (EICA). By varying pore diameter SPG membrane, we produce size distributions centered around hundreds nanometers several microns. We further transferred water mild sulfonation PS polystyrene sulfonic acid (PSS) verified character subsequent labelling cationic nanoparticles. Finally, show that sulfonated are amphiphilic can be used as efficient colloidal stabilizers oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions.
